Manager's Quality

If someone ask "What is job of a manager?", I would like to answer that "solving problems". Manager's quality can be determined by the way and speed of solving problems in a business.

When you own a business, business will bring you all kinds of problems. Problem can be as small as changing a light bulb in a store. Or it could be as big as losing profit.

I think a manager should be a person at least not creating a personal problem. Personal problem can be smoking, drinking, health problems, gambling, uncontrolled money spending or any type of addicting.

When you create a problem on your own, there's no way to solve millions of problems in business.

Millenium Park

It was pretty good weather on this Sunday.

Now, finally it's spring.

We finally had time to go to Millenium Park.

Any Good Mechanic

If you live around Schaumburg, never go to Firestone or Woodfield Sears auto for any car trouble.

I just went to Woodfield Sears auto for tire rotation a month ago and I found wheel alignment is totally not working. My car just goes right direction very much unless I hold the handle tight.

I cannot believe they didn't even balance the tire. They kept asking more money for wheel alignment which was fine.

That's the same as Firestone. The Firestone on Wise road has extremely bad local reputation. If you go there for flat tire, they will ask you to change rim for $250. I notice they are doing that to every customer.

For some reasons, I don't really have much luck with mechanics in this area. If anyone knows any good mechanic, let me know!

Expand Online

I just found that CybKnight made $62,194 sales through ebay last year.

We will try to make it $100,000 this year. There are lots of guys making over 1 Millions ebay sales per year virtually on their own or with very few people, though.

Local store is important. But, if we expand anything, it would be online.

Last Chance

Yesterday, we found one very unnecessary message left from a person owning cell: 847 340 9576 again. It's been like this for a while.

Please be advised that we have proof against you. Also, any info regarding this phone number will be appreciated!

Twitter

Lately, we joined twitter and suddenly 30 people follow us.

In my case, I clicked suggested users and click "follow all". So, we are following 172 people all at once.

I think it's important to use free sites for advertisements.

Better Trade in Value

Nowadays we've notice that even employees from Gamestop, Blockbuster and Toy'r us come here for trade in.

I guess better trade in value would be great attraction for gamers.

Gaeim [Game]

Recently, we made one more blog, Gaeim [Game] regarding our games and gaming.

Gaeim would be the blog directly connected to CybKnight. I thought it may be strange when customers see lots of business articless when they expect games or shopping from our shop.

This blog will be used for business and other stuff.

P.S. : Are you able to pronounce "Gae Im" as game?

CybKnight Yelp

We truly thank Allen who left us a good review on yelp.

I think it's important for business owners to use free web advertisement sites instead of spending money on flyers.

If you look carefully, most of businesses didn't update any information.

Closed at 6PM

We were closed at 6PM this Sat. We may do that from now on.

City of Chicago

South Halsted Ave.

Mall at Halsted & North

It was nice weather to walk.

Broadway

Lots of small shops gathered.

York Town center.

Next week, we will go to Navy pier and Millenium park. There's steak house on Wabash ave.

Item Location at Flickr

Today, CybKnight opens photo site at Flickr. I think it's great free advertisement since it shows the item location.

Cash = Games to Kids

Yesterday, one local kid brought a bunch of 360 and wii games for trade-in toward our new item.

I know he didn't buy those at our store and doesn't even have wii system. For the first time, I suspected items could be someone else's. And, we suspect the previous trade-ins also.

We asked him to bring parents for trade-ins and those group of kids started arguing with us. They came back three times until I burst my anger.

He had problems before. In this time, we need to block him permanently since we want to live comfortably regardless of profit.

We used to have a lot of those customers and arguments when we had cash option for trade ins. After having store credit only, those are all gone. Still, it seems cash = games to kids.

Legitimacy of Source

Dear Customers,

Regardless of your age, we have right to decline any game trade-in when we suspect legitimacy of game source.

Few days ago, one old person brought a bunch of 360 games for children for cash. We declined that even for store credit. If you are under 18, just bring your parent and let us process that for you.

Also, if you bring too big amount of value of games, we recommend to bring your parent to process that. Thank you very much.

Chinese Coffee House

Recently I found a very interesting blog. This blogger is a Korean news reporter in New York and has interviewed Warren Buffett and Beyonce himself.

He introduced the best Chinese restaurant and coffee house in New York. And, this sentence hit me deep.

"Chinese believe a business must bankrupt if you let a visitor out. So people can stay at this coffee house hours after hours without worry at all."

I wonder if CybKnight oversimplify everything including transaction for our convenience. Did we make the store comfortable for customers?

Unfortunately, this coffee shop was closed out by Health Department though it has very good reputation.

Phone Call or Email

I've just got a phone call from Michigan.

We will appreciate if any reader leave a message here instead of making Phone call or sending us email if it's regarding blog.

Tax Filing

We are pretty busy to file tax until 4/15/2009.

Business tax filing is more complicated than individual, but it's fun also!

Biggest Asset

People may disregard, but the biggest asset in business is our health.

Some people damage their health by working. But, some people damage or risk their health for no reason.

Personally, I don't drink or smoke, but I've never really concern my health until last year when I was in ER for Kidney Stone.

Various statistics shows that 70- 90% of new businesses fail nowadays. When we analyze the reasons, it can start with very little thing like drinking or smoking habbit of business owner.

Caught Shoplifter

Today, we caught fourth shoplifter this year. Now I regret, but we let him go after having a photo and verified info since he confessed and cooperate well.

(Conant High, C.R.P., 847-534-xxxx)

This record will be shared with Schaumburg Police and other business owners.

The other two kids tried to distract me have the same criminal responsibility. I've seen them at Walgreen and we need their info. (Andrew D' and other kid)

Please don't think shoplift is small crime. You can go to prison for 50 years for three repeated shoplifts. There wouldn't be any tolerance from now on.

Simple Trade in

I went to gamestop site the other day and this is part of their trade in deals.

Can trade in be more simple like more money on each game?

Scratch Removal Machine

Today, we've got another scratch removal machine for home use. My fiancee will clean discs at home whenever she has time.

DSI Deal

Gamestop has pretty good trade-in deal on DSI. I wonder how and why they have this deal, though.

New Posters

CybKnight put some new posters today!

Multi Entertainment Concept

Today I found one article regarding I-Park Mall in Korea.

It shows that there used to be a huge shopping mall called "Space Nine" four years ago. They were bankrupt in 10 months for notorious low quality sellers in spite of good location. Those sellers, called "용팔이", were known for rudeness, threatening attitude and rip-off.

Hyundai took over this mall and changed into successful I-Park mall. Hyundai introduced entertainment concept into the mall and re-educated those sellers. The manager said he got this concept from Mall of America, Canal City and Harbor City from Hong Kong.

What I like to talk about is this multi entertainment concept. Surely, I am not Hyundai Corp or owner of Mall of America. But, I think it's important to understand this in our business.

CybKnight is gameshop and luckily we have big Internet cafe next door. 95% of this plaza is occupied, but still I believe 3 spaces are available. If game arcade, Polish video store or movie theater come in, those would help to complete entertainment complex in this plaza.

Internet Sellers

Today, I was in a Korean forum and found a very interesting article and replies. I am not able to write anything unless I am in Korea with cell phone, so I am writing answers here.

First complaint, 1. Internet sellers are killing offline sellers. -> Then, do Internet sales together at offline shop to compete.

Second, 2. Online sales are getting competitive, so there's no margin -> Then, give up brand new items and sell used items only.
